What the Home Air Quality Check Is

The Home Air Quality Check is our complete indoor air quality services package in one visit: we test your air to find the problem, clean every duct in the home, clean your dryer vent, and sanitize the system so the cause is gone. It is how Fresh Cleaning Solutions fixes the air in your home instead of guessing at it.

Most duct companies show up, run a hose and leave without ever asking why your air feels heavy, dusty or musty. We start with the facts. The air test tells us what is going on in your home before any cleaning begins, so the work that follows is aimed at the real cause. Then we fix it the same day, at the flat rate we quoted.

Every Home Air Quality Check includes:

  • An air quality test. Particles, humidity, VOCs and CO2, measured on site in the rooms you use most, so we know where the problem is coming from.
  • Whole-home air duct cleaning. Every supply and return line, cleaned with HEPA-filtered negative-air equipment and rotary brushes.
  • Dryer vent cleaning. Lint out, airflow back, fire risk down.
  • Sanitizing and deodorizing. An EPA-registered treatment that is safe for kids and pets.
  • A plain-English walkthrough. We explain what the test found, what we cleaned and what to watch for next.

How the Home Air Quality Check Works, Step by Step

Our indoor air quality services follow the same four steps in every home. A typical home takes part of one day. The duct cleaning itself usually runs 2 to 4 hours, and the dryer vent about an hour. Here is the full visit:

  1. Test the air. We start with a home air quality test before any cleaning. We read particles, humidity, VOCs and CO2 and walk you through every number as we take it. High particles point to dust, pollen and dander moving through the ducts. High humidity points to moisture that feeds mold and musty smells. High VOCs or CO2 point to fumes and stale air that need better airflow.
  2. Inspect the ducts and vents. We remove and check your vent covers and look at the supply and return lines for dust, debris, pet hair, construction dust and signs of moisture. Many North Atlanta homes have ducts in the attic or crawl space, where heat and humidity make buildup worse.
  3. Deep clean the ducts and dryer vent. A negative-air machine pulls the whole system under suction while rotary brushes knock loose what is stuck to the walls. Everything goes into HEPA-filtered equipment, not back into your rooms. Then we clear your dryer vent from the dryer to the outside wall.
  4. Sanitize and fix the cause. We treat the ducts with an EPA-registered sanitizer and deodorizer. If the test showed a moisture or airflow problem, we tell you exactly what is driving it and what fixes it, from a dehumidifier to a UV treatment for extra protection.
Only want the readings? Book air quality testing on its own. If the numbers say your ducts are the problem, the Home Air Quality Check is the next step.

Who Needs Indoor Air Quality Services in Gwinnett

You do not need a diagnosis to book. These are the reasons homeowners in Suwanee, Johns Creek, Buford and the rest of Gwinnett, Forsyth and North Fulton call us:

  • Allergies that are worse at home. If sneezing and a stuffy nose ease up when you leave, your air is a likely cause. Allergy relief at home starts with knowing what is in the air.
  • Pine pollen season. North Atlanta's spring pollen gets pulled into your return vents and spread through every room.
  • Dust that comes right back. Clean furniture covered again in a day or two points to dirty ducts.
  • A musty smell when the AC runs. Humid Georgia summers and crawl space ductwork are a common mix.
  • Pets. Hair and dander collect in the returns and keep circulating.
  • A renovation or new home. Drywall dust and fresh paint, floors and furniture add particles and VOCs.
  • You have not had the ducts cleaned in 3 to 5 years. That is the usual schedule, sooner with pets, allergies or a remodel.

Not sure which indoor air quality services fit? Call us. We will tell you honestly whether testing alone, cleaning alone or the full package fits your home.

Why Test First, Then Clean in the Same Visit

Cleaning without testing is a guess. Testing without cleaning leaves you with a list of problems and a second appointment to book. The Home Air Quality Check does both on one day, so you are not taking more time off work or waiting weeks for a fix. To see what each reading on the test means, read our guide on what a home air quality test measures.

The test also keeps the job honest. If your humidity is the real issue, we tell you, because duct cleaning alone will not stop a musty smell that keeps coming back from a damp crawl space. If your particle reading is high, the duct cleaning is aimed right at it. You get one flat rate up front after a free estimate, with no hidden fees, and you know what you are paying for before we start.

Homes around Lake Lanier, older houses in Lawrenceville and Duluth, and newer builds in Buford and Cumming all show different patterns. Older homes tend to carry years of dust in the returns. New builds often hold drywall dust and VOCs from fresh finishes. Testing first means we treat your house, not a generic one.

Satish S.Google review
David and his assistant did an excellent job cleaning our HVAC vents and dryer vent. They were both professional, thorough, friendly, and respectful of our home. David explained the process clearly, and they took great care to make sure everything was done properly. I was very pleased with their work and would absolutely recommend Fresh Cleaning Solutions.
Andi V.Google review
Everything done as promised! They were on time, and did an excellent job cleaning my dryer vent system. It was unbelievable what all came out of the vent to the exterior, even a bird nest. It showed me how important proper maintenance is , and how easy it would have been for my dryer to overheat and catch fire with a blocked vent! Regardless of the challenge they faced, the invoice remained as quoted. David and Omar did an amazing and thorough job! Will definitely call them again!

FAQ

Home Air Quality Check Questions

How do I check my indoor air quality?

The most reliable way is a professional home air quality test. A technician measures particles, humidity, VOCs and CO2 on site and explains each reading. Home monitors can give a rough idea, but they will not show you why the numbers are high. Our Home Air Quality Check pairs the test with an inspection of your ducts and vents, so you learn both what is in the air and where it is coming from, then we fix it the same visit.

How much does an air quality assessment cost?

We give you a free estimate and a flat rate up front, no hidden fees. The Home Air Quality Check covers the air test, whole-home duct cleaning and sanitizing in one price, with dryer vent cleaning included.

What is an air quality specialist?

An air quality specialist tests the air in your home, finds what is causing the problem and fixes it, instead of selling one service and leaving. At Fresh Cleaning Solutions that means measuring particles, humidity, VOCs and CO2, inspecting your ducts and vents, then cleaning and sanitizing with NADCA certified methods so the source of the problem is gone.

Will the Home Air Quality Check help my allergies?

If dust, pollen and pet dander in your ducts are part of what you are breathing, cleaning them removes that source from your home. North Atlanta's spring pine pollen and pets are two of the most common reasons our customers book. Testing first tells you whether your ducts are the problem, so the cleaning is aimed at what is actually making you sneeze.

How long does the Home Air Quality Check take?

Most homes are done in part of one day. The air test and duct inspection come first, duct cleaning usually takes 2 to 4 hours, and dryer vent cleaning takes about an hour for most homes. Sanitizing happens at the end of the visit, so you go to bed that night with clean ducts and a clear answer on what was wrong.

Is the sanitizer safe for kids and pets?

Yes. We use an EPA-registered sanitizer and deodorizer that is safe for kids and pets. It is applied inside the ductwork after cleaning, not sprayed around your rooms. If you want extra protection against regrowth, we can also add a UV treatment to your system. Our techs are NADCA certified and use HEPA-filtered equipment, so what comes out of your ducts stays out of your rooms.

How do I prepare my house for duct cleaning?

You do not need to do much to prepare. Make sure we can reach your vent covers, return grilles, the furnace or air handler and the dryer, and move small items or furniture that block them. Plan to keep pets in a room we are not working in. We handle the rest: we cover your floors, remove and clean the vent covers, and put every one back when we finish. If anyone at home has allergies or you have noticed a musty smell, tell us, so the air test covers the rooms you use most.

Do duct cleaners go into every room?

Yes, a full duct cleaning reaches every room that has a supply vent or a return grille. We remove each register and return cover, clean every supply and return line under HEPA-filtered negative air with rotary brushes, and clean the covers before they go back on. That is how the whole system gets cleaned, not just a few vents near the furnace. We cover the floors where we work, and during a Home Air Quality Check we also test the air in the rooms you use most.

Can you be in the house during duct cleaning?

Yes, you and your family can stay home during the whole visit. The HEPA-filtered negative-air machine keeps loosened dust inside the system and out of your rooms, and the EPA-registered sanitizer and deodorizer we use is safe for kids and pets. Most people stay home, and pets can stay too as long as they are kept out of the room we are working in. During a Home Air Quality Check we walk you through each air test reading as we take it, so being there helps.

What time of year is best for duct cleaning?

Any time of year works, but late spring, after pine pollen season, is a smart time in North Atlanta. Pollen fills return vents every spring, and long, humid summers keep the AC running for months, so a clean system heading into summer has less to blow around. If you have pets, allergies, a recent renovation or a musty smell, there is no reason to wait for a season. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and same-day service is available.
